Our client is a leading subsidiary of a well-known subsidiary of Fortune 300 company.   The company is a leading distributor of globally manufactured products.    

We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator for WebSphere with 8-15 years' experience to support WebSphere Commerce, WebSphere ESB, DB2 and overall eBusiness landscape on Linux operating systems.   


This critical position manages the EBusiness Infrastructure for the clientÕs business environment.


The candidate must demonstrate solid experience with system administration, change management, user management and software logistics to ensure smooth and efficient operation of Production, Development, QA/Test and supporting environments.    Position is includes checking logs, network connectivity, performance tuning, installations, upgrades, deployment, security, etc.


In this position the candidate will provide day-to-day operational support, project support for IT team and help develop an architectural roadmap (systems) for the companyÕs growth.  (Company is scaling from 25 to 100 plus retail locations)

¥ Effectively manage the complex eBusiness enterprise architecture of high availability and 24/7 uptime. Demonstrated experience in supporting high volume WebSphere Commerce environments.
¥ Design solutions in alignment with technology strategies and roadmaps.
¥ Provide subject matter expertise for IBM WebSphere systems and apply industry best practices.
¥ Installation, configuration, and administration of WebSphere Commerce Server 7.x, WebSphere ESB 6.x, WebSphere Application Server 6.x/7.x, WebSphere MQ 6.x and IBM HTTP server 7.x.
¥ Configuration and administration of IBM DB2 9.x database
¥ Manage J2EE application deployment process and assist development team with any issues.
¥ Facilitate code promotion and application releases to Production.
¥ Configure monitoring tools and proactively analyze performance and reliability of applications. Manage system performance, monitoring, and activity of all systems and databases related to daily operations of the eBusiness environment comprising of WebSphere Commerce, WebSphere ESB and DB2.
¥ Take ownership of technical problems and production issues and bring the problems to resolution in a timely fashion to ensure smooth operations.
¥ Generate metrics reporting and enforce application security.
¥ Troubleshoot and tune WebSphere systems to achieve optimal performance and manage capacity.
¥ Collaborate with broader team to determine strategy and plan for system implementations and upgrades.
¥ Develop practices and procedures to manage technologies based on 'best practice' standards. Lead effort to develop technical standards to support and operate technologies within the system landscape.
¥ Develop methodologies and practices to manage and plan system capacity based on projected growth rate to ensure system performance remains at acceptable levels.
¥ Contribute to the development of strategies and methodologies to manage the system's lifecycle program in terms of ensuring compliance with vendor releases.
¥ Design, develop, and maintain a system landscape that accommodates multiple support functions such as development, testing, staging and UAT in addition to production.
¥ Define the processes and procedures necessary to operate and monitor the technical environments.
¥ Formulate and document backup and recovery plans, test the plan periodically, and lead any needed recovery effort.
¥ Create and maintain system and component design documents.
¥ Provide assistance and coach other members of the IT technical and functional teams.
¥ Proactively identify environment needs related to system capacity, licensing, security patches and fix packs.
¥ Experience with WebSphere adapters for SAP, JDBC, and FTP.
¥ Experience using tools like Jython, JACL and UNIX Shell Scripting.
¥ Maintain CVS version control system.
¥ Provides on-call support on rotation basis and as needed.




¥ BachelorÕs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field and eight to fifteen yearsÕ experience based on consistently demonstrated capabilities. Experience in the information technology profession may be substituted for formal education on a two yearsÕ experience for one year education basis.

¥ Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate concepts, solutions or recommendations to senior management, other technical subject matter experts and audiences with little technical knowledge.
¥ Able to perform work with limited supervision seeking guidance as needed for complex or critical matters.
¥ High aptitude for learning new technologies and adapting to a rapidly changing environment.
